In the state of Amazonas, there are approximately 49 registered caves and grottos. The city of Presidente Figueiredo, located 133 km from Manaus, is known as the “Land of Waterfalls” and is a paradise for those who want to venture through beautiful caves, grottos and waterfalls in the region.
Due to its easy access from the capital, the place has become a popular tourist attraction for getting close to nature and native species of the region. One of the main attractions is the Gruta da Judéia, which is next to the Caverna Refúgio do Maroaga. The place impresses with its beauty, with a large gallery and waterfall that form a natural pool.
To visit the Caverna do Maroaga and the Gruta da Judéia, a guide is required, and only up to 60 visitors are allowed per day to preserve the place. To reach the cave, visitors walk along a trail of about 600 meters through the forest.
Although these are the city's main attractions, Presidente Figueiredo also has many other natural beauties, including 150 waterfalls, natural pools, and other caves and grottos. The rivers are in high water between February and June, which is the ideal time to visit the site.
