Pico da Neblina Opens Expedition Season.

Pico da Neblina is the highest mountain in Brazil, located on the border between the state of Amazonas and Venezuela, overlapping two conservation units: the Yanomami Indigenous Land, covering nearly 10 million hectares, and the Pico da Neblina National Park, with about 2.2 million hectares.

From 2003 to 2021, visits to the area were suspended by Ibama, as they were not controlled by the responsible authorities. In 2022, after negotiations, the site reopened for expeditions, now with the Yanomami people taking the lead, supported by sustainable tourism agencies.

The 2024-2025 season will feature 12 departure dates, allowing more than 120 people from around the world to participate in sustainable experiences. Travelers will have the opportunity to visit indigenous communities and other traditional groups such as riverside dwellers, quilombolas, sertanejos, and caiçaras.

The journey lasts 15 days in total, and good physical fitness is recommended. The itinerary includes breathtaking landscapes, from the Serra dos Ventos to the dense Amazon rainforest. After reaching the summit of Pico da Neblina, travelers will participate in celebrations in São Gabriel da Cachoeira.
